Hello friends! So today we are going Speak about something that we all do really care — Screws, nuts & bolts! Ever wondered what they actually are and the role that they play in taking significant part of our life? Wellglory, let’s get right into and learn all about them together!
Screws, nuts and bolts are special fasteners that help keep things secured. They might appear infinitesimal, but they matter big! They keep lots of ordinary stuff from falling apart. It would be like your bike missing screws – you couldn’t ride it safely! We use these in lots of places — for example, when we are repairing our bicycles, making furniture, or assembling heavy machinery. These are of all sizes and shapes, and are made using different materials including steel, aluminum, and plastic. Different types have their specific applications, and knowing them makes it easier to choose one of them for our projects!
Head: This is the section on the very top that is turned with a tool, such as a screwdriver. Head can be flat, star, hexagon or any shape. Every shape is fit for a specific kind of tool it suits best.
Shank: The shank is the long part of the screw, nut and bolt. It is the body that gets involved in the material. There are unique slots on the shank known as threads. These threads are incredibly significant as they bind and provide structure and support and prevent them from unraveling.
Threads: The threads are ridges that surround the shank. They allow the screw bite into the material it is driven into and allows it to be held slowly. The more the threads, the stronger the grip!
Lag Screws: These are big, heavy duty screws used to attach large and heavy objects to wood. These screws can be found holding together bunk beds, the shelves of a book case or even a wooden deck.
Selecting appropriate screw, nut, and bolt for your project is crucial! Pick the wrong one, and you introduce problems. For instance, if you choose to use a tiny screw to fix a weighty object, the screw might break, jeopardizing either you or others close to you. Think how magnificent if these screws holding the shelf were so weak that the entire shelf would fall? Using a screw that’s made of the wrong material could cause it to rust or break down over time, and lead to even more headaches down the line. That’s why it’s important to know what each type does and when to use them.
